| 06 November 2008 This weekend's University Shinty main event is the Glasgow derby when Glasgow University take on Strathclyde University at Yoker - Glasgow Mid Argyll's pitch - on Saturday 8 November 2008. Strathclyde are reigning University League champions and are unbeaten since March 2006. They have also won the coveted Little John Vase for the last 2 years. They have already sent a message of intent this season, having beaten Dundee University 16-0.

Strathclyde include Skye Camanachd players Alan Palmer, David Nicolson, Robert Urquhart and possibly even Sandy Paterson. They also have Grant Irvine (Kyles Athletic), Donald MacDonald (Caberfeidh), Calum MacLean (Kinlochsheil), Dan Hood (Glasgow Mid Argyll), James Tangy (Fort William), Gavin Park (Kilmory), Sean Cameron (Glasgow Mid argyll), Tom Smith (Lovat) and captain Andy MacLennen (Kingussie). There are also several players from Uist.
Glasgow are represented by Skye Camanachd's Gilleasbuig MacDonald, John Moir, Kerr Gibb, Ally Maclennen and Allan MacDonald. They also have Louis Munro (Kingussie) and James Livingston (Glenorchy).
