| Shinty World Pays Their Respects To DR MacDonald. | |
| 10 March 2010 Many leading figures from the shinty world turned out at the Church of Scotland , Portree on Wednesday 10 March 2010 to pay their respects to former Skye Camanachd manager, player, youth coach and committee member, DR MacDonald.
One of the largest gatherings at a Portree funeral in living memory paid their respects to one of Skye Camanachd’s most influential figures ever.
There were representations from many shinty clubs with Camanachd Association President Duncan Cameron and previous President John MacKenzie also in attendance.
The service was conducted by Rev D I Morrison (Harris) and Rev D G MacDonald (Portree) in both Gaelic and English. There was also a poignant tribute from DR’s nephew Martin MacGregor.
Refreshments were provided at the Aros Heritage Centre following the internment at Portree Cemetery.
Skye Camanachd will now turn their thoughts to introducing a permanent memorial in DR MacDonald’s memory. | |
